Announcement

The workshop ended with success. Thank you for your participation and contribution. Now, the general workshop photos are available in
[Workshop photo]. You also visit [Photo gallery] for more.

Scope

This workshop provides an opportunity to exchange ideas and information on the significance of grain refinement, lattice defects and phase transformation in severely deformed materials for their properties' enhancement. We will discuss the role of SPD especially in terms of the applicability to biomedical materials including biocompatibility. Any related presentations including the process development, microstructural analyses and properties measurements are also welcome. The following keywords can be the subjects for the discussion in this workshop. We will welcome any presentations of the related research.

    Properties:
    mechanical properties, biocompatibility, corrosion resistance
    Micro- and nanoostructures:
metastable phases, lattice defects, grain boundaries,
    twins, stacking faults

    Processing techniques:
high-pressure torsion (HPT), equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP),
accumulative roll bonding (ARB), multi directional forging (MDF),
high-pressure sliding (HPS), ball milling (BM), etc.

Remark

GSAM2018 is held as an activity of the International Research Center on Giant Straining for Advanced Materials (IRC-GSAM) at Kyushu University.
